It's raining, y'all!! Woohoo! That means surf's up in the bee yards! Hoping these drops are landing on one and all in Central Texas and it's great news for our bees.
This week we’re focused on getting our gear tight and ready for spring splits and queen installations:
- Scraping and rewaxing old frames to give our colonies a clean slate
- Setting up mobile hives using our field-tested “Poor Man’s Migratory” method: bottom boards stapled on, D-rings and hooks front and back, tied shut with a short rope — strong, simple, and truck-ready (see video below)
- Watching brood patterns and checking queen status as we prep for expansion
It’s wild. It’s fast. But don’t let it overwhelm you.
This season is where your year gets built — one frame at a time. Keep it steady. Gear up. Keep showing up.
Need a hand? Come to the shop this Saturday at 9AM for our free workshop. Harold will be showing how to clean and rewax frames, and we’ll all be here for Q&A and conversations after.
The tide is rising. Time to paddle in.

Spring’s wild — ride it anyway.
