What We’re Doing in the Bees This Week
The rains have finally arrived, and with them comes the promise of a honey flow. We’re:
✅ Adding supers to strong hives
✅ Requeening colonies that need a little refresh
✅ Watching for late swarms
✅ Cleaning up after a very busy spring
If you’re seeing your hives build quickly, now’s the time to stay ahead with supering and hive space. Don’t let your bees feel cramped!
Beer Keg Bees? Yep.
During a recent removal, we found a colony that had moved into a beer keg. Yes, really. We brought them back to the yard, and we’ll be using this rare situation to demonstrate a forced abscond technique at Saturday’s workshop. (It’s not something we use often, but it’s a handy trick in certain situations.)
